Apr 18: We're Recruiting ! - for the Position of Thalassaemia Centre Coordinator

Role Overview

Our current Coordinator is moving on and we want to thank him for bringing an innovative and broader perspective to this role, including starting some new projects and reaching new communities. As one door closes, another opens and we have a great opportunity for a new person to continue the projects started by the previous Coordinator and work with our Committee to bring to life the plans we have for our 40th Year and beyond, as well as develop your own ideas and projects.

The Coordinator role is an interesting and multi-faceted role with duties ranging from administration and reporting, to patient and family support, to Membership and community engagement activities and raising awareness of thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia, particularly within multicultural communities. If you enjoy engaging people and have a passion for helping people, then you’ll enjoy this role.

The role is state-wide for NSW and ACT. State-wide support in NSW & ACT (rural and outside Sydney Metropolitan Areas) is mainly by phone but the role does include travel across Sydney for meetings/events/presentations. The role is part-time for 21 hours per week.

Primary Objectives:

  • To provide effective program coordination and administrative support for the Thalassaemia Society of NSW.
  • To manage patient and community questions and requests for support.
  • To promote the Society across a range of health and community settings and develop partnerships for community awareness raising as well as patient education and support.
  • To promote the status of the Thalassaemia Society and increase its engagement with members and stakeholders.

About us:

We celebrate our 40th year in 2018. The Thalassaemia Society of NSW is a registered charity formed in 1978 as a non-profit self-help society. It is also the chief fund raising body supporting the comprehensive Thalassaemia services at hospitals across Sydney and NSW.
